Scriptures 4 Kids is challenging children to read their scriptures every day, starting with one month.  Oh, and we are not talking about Family Scripture Study (you are probably already doing that)!  We want kids to learn the value of individual scripture study.  But with Scriptures 4 Kids, individual scripture study is possible even if you are only three years old and even when mom is too busy to squeeze it in!  Each month, extend the challenge for one more month and shoot for an entire year! Teach your children the importance of establishing habits while they are young.  Help them to understand that if they start now with Scriptures 4 Kids, that someday they will be able to be partakers of the blessings that come with life long daily scripture study.

Why is the Scriptures 4 Kids Storybook free?

Over the past five years, the children of the world have constantly been in our prayers. Heavenly Father has given us moments where we have been able to glimpse into his heart and feel how much HE loves His children. He wants all of the children throughout the world to learn to love the scriptures.  He wants everyone, including children, to partake of the blessings of daily scripture study.   We hope that Scriptures 4 Kids, in some small part, helps to build up HIS kingdom here on earth and prepares the children for His return.  We hope that Scriptures 4 Kids will be a blessing to your families.

Scriptures 4 Kids currently offers:

• 71 stories on 4 different reading levels including audio narration
• 71 original illustrations
• 71 thought provoking questions
• 71 coloring pages
• 71 original games that teach a gospel principle (2 games currently live, 30 to be released Summer 2010)
• 71 Family Home Evenings (released weekly)

The Old and New Testament are scheduled to be released in late 2010.

Mission

The mission of Scriptures 4 Kids is to provide parents with tools that will help them teach their children to love the scriptures and to help children gain a testimony of Jesus Christ.

Goal

Our goal is to make scriptures a part of the daily lives of millions of children throughout the world so that these children will learn to love the scriptures and ultimately to learn to turn to the scriptures to help them lead happy and successful lives.

Our Story

Five years ago, I was sitting in the family room trying to help my six year old daughter read out of an easy reader book. I looked up when my newborn began to cry and realized that the spaghetti was overflowing on the stove. I jumped up to address both situations and realized that my four year old son was body slamming my one year old. For a moment I stood there paralyzed.  Would I ever survive raising four children, let alone do it well? I felt that mothers had too many responsibilities and too little time to get them all done.

Eventually I got back to reading with my six year old.  The two of us spent a lot of time reading because she was struggling.  I remember thinking to myself, "I wish I had a Book of Mormon Easy Reader".  I figured it would save me time, I could accomplish two things in one shot.

That thought was the beginning of Scriptures 4 Kids.  Five years and two children later, I am so excited to say that there is an easy reader for every child, accessible by all.

As parents it is our duty to ensure that our children learn to make the essential things a part of their daily lives.  If you wait to teach your children the habit of daily scripture study, they may never embrace it.  However, if you teach your children to love the scriptures from a very young age and teach them to read daily, it will become a part of their lives forever.

Scriptures 4 Kids has been set up in a format that makes it possible for any child that can click a mouse to have daily scripture study, even if mom doesn't have time to do it with them.  With the four reading levels, the story is available in a format for any child who is not yet ready to tackle the real scriptures.

Over the past five years Scriptures 4 Kids has become a family project.  My husband, Damon, has been very supportive, watching the kids for hundreds of hours so that I could work.  He has also been willing to finance the project.  I am eternally grateful to Damon for believing in me and in my dream of developing this site.  If it weren't for his support there is no way that this project ever could have been done.

Damon and I have 6 children.  Cassie (10), Sam (8), Olivia (5), Sydney (4), Lily (8 months) and Simon (8 months). For children so young, they have been very helpful. In our home it is their job to use the site and let me know what works, what doesn't work and what they do and do not like.  If the site has any good ideas in it, it probably came from them.

It is my hope that Scriptures 4 Kids will become a part of your children's daily routine, like brushing their teeth or saying their nightly prayers.  I hope children will use it to gain an appreciation for the scriptures and the prophets who have gone before us.  I hope that it will be a great launching pad that prepares them to read the true scriptures when they are ready.
