Thou shalt love the Lord they God
with all they heart, and with all thy
soul, and with all thy mind"
(Matthew 22: 37)

Reverently, Quietly
Children’s Songbook, 26

Reverence
Read Matthew 22:37
This lesson is on reverence, so why is the scripture for this lesson about loving God?
We show Heavenly Father how we feel about Him by our behavior. When we do the following things, do they make Heavenly Father feel like we love Him or not?
Say prayers morning, noon and night
Break the word of wisdom
Read scriptures
Break the 10 commandments
Fold our arms and walk quietly in church
What does it mean to be reverent?
What is reverent behavior in sacrament?
What is reverent behavior in sharing / singing time?
What is reverent behavior in primary class?
What are the blessings that come from being reverent?
Feel the spirit and hear the Holy Ghost
Gives you a chance to improve your testimony.
You will learn things you might have missed if you were not being reverent.
Your outward behavior is an important part of reverence.
But so are your thoughts. What should you be thinking about when you are being reverent?
Listening to the speakers and leaders
Listening to the Holy Ghost; having good thoughts.

Practice being reverent during Sacrament meeting. Pretend that your couch is the sacrament pew. Discuss different strategies your familly can use to promote a reverent sacrament for the following Sunday.
Discuss what behaviors are allowed for your family during sacrament and what behaviors should be avoided. Role play different situations that you might find yourself in during sacrament and how you should deal with them.
Make up a family “secret code”. For example, if your mom “taps you on the shoulder” that means that you are allowed to read books now. This will give your family a way to communicate during sacrament without talking. Come up with a code that mom and dad will do when they see one of the children acting especially reverent so that they have a way to praise you for your awesome behavior during sacrament.

Reverence Rolls
During the sacrament we take the bread and water. These are sweet to the soul!
For family home evening we are going to have sweet rolls to remind us of the sweet feelings we can have during sacrament if we are reverent.
Get take and bake sweet cinnamon rolls from the dairy aisle. Or use your own sweet roll recipe.
Enjoy!
