April Theme:
Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer

"We believe that through the
Atonement of Christ, all mankind
may be saved, by obedience to
the laws and ordinances of the
Gospel."
(Articles of Faith 1:3)

I’m trying to be like Jesus
Children’s Songbook, 78

Who is Jesus Christ? People of many faiths know that He lived over 2,000 years ago. Many believe only that He was a great teacher who preached about loving and serving one another. But there is more. Who is Jesus Christ? Christians, including the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, know that He performed many miracles. He fed the multitude with five loaves of bread and two fishes, healed the sick, caused the blind to see, and raised the dead. But there is more. Who is Jesus Christ? He asked the Apostles, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
“And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. “He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? “And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus also paid the price for our sins so that, if we repent, we can be forgiven and live with Him and Heavenly Father again. This sacrifice is known as the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Because of His sacrifice, Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer.

(In advance, prepare a hard boiled egg for each member of your family). Give each member their own egg, along with markers or crayons and invite them to decorate the shell however they’d like. Then tell your family, “I would like to you erase your work completely so it looks like it did when you first started.” As we live and make mistakes and do wrong things, our "shell" gets blemished and stained and we just can't seem to get it clean....in fact, it seems impossible. Then ask everyone to remove their shells. Once they peel the "sins" or shell off the egg and it is clean again...half it and show the yellow center. This represents the "warm feeling" you get inside with the gift of the Holy Ghost. Explain that without Jesus Christ’s Atonement, none of us would have the chance to repent and become clean.

Make your favorite cookies.
Sandwich two of them together with some vanilla ice cream and make homemade ice cream sandwiches.
Then roll the sides of sandwich in chocolate chips, sprinkles, coconut, etc. Enjoy
