February Theme:
The scriptures teach of Heavenly Father's Plan

"For behold, this is my work and
my glory -- to bring to pass the
immortality and eternal
life of man."
(Moses 1:39)

I will follow God’s plan
Children’s Songbook, 164-65

In advance, print the following story: http://tinyurl.com/2cu5z9h and collect baby pictures of each family member.
Whenever you go on a trip, there are certain things you bring with you. One of the most important things you take is a map. Why a map? A map gives us direction and guidance on how to arrive to our final destination. Heavenly Father has provided us with a similar map to our final destination with Him, eternal life. In order to get there, we need to better understand each part of the plan. Where were we before we came to earth? Read the story you printed out in advance. Once we were ready to come to earth, we passed through the veil and forgot about the pre-earth life. Discuss why this was necessary. Then show pictures of each family member as a baby and how you felt when they joined your family (something unique or special about each one). While here on earth, we gained a body and experiences that will teach us. When it comes time, we will all die. Our bodies stay here on earth and our spirits go to the Spirit World. From there our bodies will be reunited with our spirits forever. This gift is called the resurrection and everyone will be resurrected because of Jesus Christ. We will then be judged according to the choices we made while on earth. We will then be assigned to go to the Celestial Kingdom, the Terrestrial Kingdom or the Telestial Kingdom. Our goal should be to live in the Celestial Kingdom because that is where Heavenly Father and Jesus will be. They love each one of us so much.

Make an extra copy of this lesson and cut out the pieces below. Take turns with your family putting the cards in order. For an added challenge, time each family member to see who’s the fastest.

Recreate the plan of salvation by making sugar cookies together as a family. Use your favorite sugar cookie recipe, a circle cookie cutter and body/people cookie cutter. Once they are cooked, frost and decorate the cookies. Then have each family review part of the plan.
